We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Maria Grazia Celani, a highly esteemed neurologist in the Neurophysiology Department at Azienda Ospedaliera di Perugia, as well as vice-chair of the Neurological Science Field of our Thematic Group. She passed away prematurely on March 27. Dr. Celani dedicated her life to her patients with passion, commitment, and humanity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. In addition to her clinical work, she also dedicated herself to research with a very impressive and original approach, contributing valuable insights to the field. During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and remember her with affection and gratitude for her invaluable contributions.

78th World Health Assembly in Geneva: Focus on “One World for Health” and the Role of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
From May 19 to 27, 2025, at the UN headquarters in Geneva, the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) took place, dedicated to the theme “One World for Health.” Among the Italian participants, Antimo Moretti, member of our Thematic Group, Treasurer of the Italian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (SIMFER) and Secretary of the liaison committee between ISPRM and WHO, delivered two important official speeches.
In the first speech, it was emphasized that rehabilitation is fundamental to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (good health and well-being), referring to the historic WHA Resolution 76.6 of 2023, which recognizes rehabilitation as a key lever for universal health coverage.
The second speech focused on the importance of rehabilitation in maternal and neonatal care, essential for accelerating postpartum recovery, preventing complications, and improving the quality of life for mothers and children.
It was highlighted that rehabilitation must be integrated into emergency responses to improve clinical outcomes and contain costs, while in the context of climate change, there is a need for resilient systems that recognize vulnerabilities among at-risk groups, such as people with disabilities and the elderly, fostering functional recovery and adaptation to new environmental challenges.
The assembly reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the role of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine as an essential component of global strategies for a more inclusive and sustainable health system.

University of Jordan hosts Stefano Negrini and Carlotte Kiekens at Honorary Professors’ Forum
The Faculty of Rehabilitation at the University of Jordan hosted renowned rehabilitation scientists, Prof. Stefano Negrini and Dr. Carlotte Kiekens, as part of the Honorary Professors’ Forum. Our Director, Prof. Negrini, introduced the new Cochrane Rehabilitation Thematic Group and its mission to faculty and students. Dr. Kiekens delivered a lecture titled “Empowering People with Disabilities: Unlocking the Transformative Potential of the World Rehabilitation Assembly Resolutions.”
Later, the experts met with the Jordan Unit of Cochrane Rehabilitation, Functioning and Disability Research Group, including faculty members and external partners. The discussions fostered promising collaborations aimed at advancing rehabilitation science, with the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences eager for future contributions and partnerships.
